Utah Tech University students honored with annual Trailblazer Awards
Five Utah Tech University students were honored with Trailblazer Awards at an event held on campus last week. At the end of each academic year, Utah Tech University is pleased to host this annual award ceremony honoring students and members of the campus community for their many accomplishments. The Trailblazer Awards ceremony has been a traditional part of student life at Utah Tech University for decades, and recognizes the accomplishments of UT students, faculty, staff, community members and businesses who have been extraordinary in their commitment to success. As a formal event patterned after the Academy Awards, this annual ceremony recognizes the best and brightest at Utah Tech University and these awards are considered some of the most prestigious offered on campus. This year, UT student Trailblazer Awardees included: Student of the Year - Corey Gardner Stafford Student Involvement Award - Benji Welch Entertainer of the Year - Courtnee Ramos Personality of the Year Award - Dallas Clifford The GRIT Award - Lilliana Rogers

DSU Alumni Association honors standout graduating students as the Dixie 11
Dixie State University's Alumni Association recently held the Dixie 11 event to celebrate eleven extraordinary bachelor's degree candidates of 2022 who have excelled in academics as well as university and community involvement. "After carefully reviewing over 70 applications for the Dixie 11 award, I was astonished and proud of the achievements of these students," said Alumni Association President Betty Barnum. "Clearly these applicants are the best of Dixie State University and the final 11 are the best of the best!"

DSU student founded RISE, a local organization to support at-risk youth
Through his committment to helping at-risk youth thrive, Dixie State University student David Lenard founded RISE, an organization in St. George, Utah. After working as a youth counselor, and gaining a desire to help kids in the community, Lenard established RISE as a place to foster and support at-risk youth. Lenard is currently a junior seeking a bachelor's degree in criminal justice with a minor in communication studies. As a youth counselor at a local correctional facility, Lenard attributes his patience, understanding, and listening abilities to what he has learned in his classroom settings at DSU.
